Assistive Technology
Learning about assistive technology this week was pretty cool. The video mentioned in the TED talk and the two articles were pretty informative, especially the one that broke down how one could help teach a child with disabilities. This week was kind of interesting because my mother used to work with special needs kids in schools. I would hear about her day and I would sometimes visit her and know a bit of the difficulties of school with disabilities. I also had a few kids with disabilities in my classes, and one in particular was in a wheelchair, had problems with speaking, and issues using her hands. There were some tips that definitely could help her and a lot of other students a lot.
A lot of this kind of technology is taken for granted by many people in everyday life. For a lot of people it is just a matter of being lazy, but this kind of technology can be life changing for people with disabilities.
Here is an article about Microsoft making things accessible for people with disabilities and an article about artificial intelligence for people with disabilities.
