Coming Up with an App

Trying to come up with an app was kind of difficult. I had to think of a disability that actually had something that could help, but it was kind of difficult because the ones that have something that could help usually do have something that can help. I think what led me to deaf people was I was trying to think of some disabilities and I am really interested in music, including music creation, and one thing that it includes is waveforms. I thought that it would be a good idea to let the user know about their surroundings but identify the source. It may not be that practical or useful in real life, but I feel like some deaf people might enjoy something that gets them more aware of their surroundings.

A visualizer app would not be that difficult, but having the app identify the sound sources would be the difficult part, especially distinguishing between background noises and important soundsources. It was pretty cool trying to think about different components of the app that would make it better. The customizations for the app were not that difficult to come up with, but there are probably some other things that people could come up with to improve the app. One issue that I thought of that is kind of limited is directional audio. It would be nice to let the user know which direction the noises are coming from but I am not sure that there are a lot of phones that can detect audio from 360 degrees, I just know that there is directional audio.
